Heartbreaking and Beautiful Trailer for Sundance Drama MONSTER
Netflix and executive producer John Legend have released a new trailer for the drama Monster, which debuted back in 2018 at Sundance Film Festival. The film is based on Walter Dean Myers’ acclaimed 1999 novel of the same name which tells the story of Steve Harmon (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.), a seventeen-year-old honor student whose world comes crashing down around him when he is charged with felony murder after being the lookout at a bodega robbery in his neighborhood. The film follows his dramatic journey from a smart, likeable film student from Harlem attending an elite high school through a complex legal battle that could leave him spending the rest of his life in prison.
Harrison Jr. (The Trial of the Chicago 7) is accompanied in the cast by Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls, Respect), Tony winner Jennifer Ehle (Saint Maud), Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, The Batman), Golden Globe nominee John David Washington (Tenet), Mikey Madison (Better Things), Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother Where Art Thou, Watchmen), Grammy nominee Rakim Mayers (Dope), and Lovie Simone (Selah and the Spades).
This looks like a beautifully made and important film that will be tough to watch. Check out the trailer below, and watch Monster on Netflix on May 7th.
