Helen Mirren Plays Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir in Riveting Trailer for GOLDA about 1973 Yom Kippur War
Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren (The Queen, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Fast X, Barbie) is starring in a new film titled Golda, in which she will play Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir during the Yom Kippur War of 1973. The film also stars Camille Cottin and Liev Schreiber, and it’s directed by Guy Nattiv, from a script written by Nicholas Martin.
The synopsis for the film reads:
“Golda is a ticking-clock thriller set during the tense 19 days of the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir (Helen Mirren), faced with the potential of Israel’s complete destruction, must navigate overwhelming odds, a skeptical cabinet, and a complex relationship with US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (Liev Schreiber), with millions of lives in the balance. Her tough leadership and compassion would ultimately decide the fate of her nation and leave her with a controversial legacy around the world.”
This looks like another award-winning performance from Mirren in a story that needs to be told. Golda is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on August 25, 2023. Check out the trailer below:
