HELLBOY: THE CROOKED MAN Star Jack Kesy Talks Excitement of Playing Hellboy - "The Supporters, The Haters, Bring Them on"

Hellboy is going through another reinvention with a new film titled, Hellboy: The Crooked Man, but this movie actually looks like it could be good!

Jack Kesy takes on the role of Big Red in this new film and this film will tell a horror story set in the 1950s. In the film, Hellboy teams up with a rookie BPRD agent named Tom Ferrell and find themselves stranded in rural Appalachia.

“There, they discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.” The story will “expand Hellboy’s world through one of the most beloved issues of the comic series.”

Kesy steps into the shoes of a character previously played by Ron Perlman and David Harbour, but the actor isn’t feeling any pressure by playing a new iteration of the character.

He told GamesRadar+: "You know what, I love a good challenge, I've always been like that so I was excited to take it on. Everyone, the supporters, the haters, whoever, bring them on.

“You know it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You always get an opportunity to play people similar to yourself but when do you get a chance to be in full prosthetic, playing iconic characters? The excitement topped everything."

The actor is just hoping that he does justice to the fan-favorite character, saying: "Just excitement and a little bit of creative pressure, like, 'How am I going to do this?’ I've never worked in prosthetics. But we collaborated with the director [Brian Taylor] and it was one day at a time, one scene at a time."

Kesy went on to admit that he wasn’t familiar with the comic book history of the character, but says he’s been welcomed by fans with open arms. "[I was] definitely not a comic book guy but I definitely learned on the job and I had fans reach out to me right away and they've been telling me things that I didn't know about comic books."

He added: "I love the Hellboy fans. I’ve actually known them now for over a year, I still write them back mostly through some social media and they send me little facts and little photos and just little stuff that I may have overlooked. I'm excited with them."

After watching the trailer for Hellboy: The Crooked Man, I’m actually kind of excited about it. This could be a decent Hellboy movie that delivers a fun and cool horror story.

The movie also stars Adeline Rudolph (Resident Evil), Jefferson White (Yellowstone) as Tom Ferrel, Leah McNamara as Effie Kolb, Joseph Marcell as Reverend Watts, Hannah Margetson as Cora Fisher, and Martin Bassindale as the Crooked Man, among others.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man is set to be released in 2024.
