HELLDIVERS 2 Movie: Arrowhead CEO Wants To Cast A-List Actors and Then Have Them "Violently Killed Immediately"
Fans of the hit brutal video game Helldivers 2 are eagerly awaiting to see how Sony's upcoming film adaptation turns out.
While Arrowhead, the developer behind Helldivers 2, doesn’t have much control over Hollywood's creative reins, CEO Shams Jorjani has some hilariously gruesome hopes for the movie's casting.
During a recent discussion in the Helldivers 2 Discord, Jorjani responded to a fan fan-casting Chris Pratt as a Bile Titan by saying: “We’re all hoping for as many A-list actors as possible. As long as they all get killed violently immediately.”
I guess that’s a fitting sentiment for a game where death is inevitable and spectacularly over-the-top. There’s currently no casting for the film, so as of right now, fan-casting is all they can talk about. What actors do they want to see cast in the film just to be brutally killed off?
I just hope that the movie will capture the same chaotic energy and tone of the game. The Helldivers franchise is known for throwing players into the role of futuristic soldiers battling alien threats like the robotic Automatons and insectoid Terminids, all in the name of defending "managed democracy."
Arrowhead’s Chief Creative Officer Johan Pilestedt previously offered some insight into the studio's role in the movie’s development.
He clarified that Arrowhead would be involved in the process, but the final creative decisions rest firmly with Sony. “We are not Hollywood people,” he admitted. “We don’t know what it takes to make a movie. And therefore we don’t, and shouldn’t, have final say.”
For now, Sony remains tight-lipped about the adaptation, with few details available beyond the announcement that the project is in development.
