Henry Cavill Has Reportedly Signed On To Three SUPERMAN Films and Options For Cameos

We know that Henry Cavill has been in talks with Warner Bros. to reprise role as Superman, and while it was reported at the time that no new standalone film was being planned, two reports have surfaced that say otherwise.

According to sources close to both The Cultured Nerd and DCUNews, Henry Cavill has reportedly signed a new deal to reprise his role as Superman in future DC films.

They go on to report that Cavill has pitched a new Superman film project that was “widely praised” by DC Entertainment and WB. Apparently they were so impressed, that the deal they made with Cavill includes three films based on the actor’s pitch and “options for future cameos in other future DC films, for a total of 5-6 movies.”

The report goes on to say that they don’t have any specific details to share regarding the three films, but “they can be anything from another solo outing, to a prominent role in a Black Adam and Shazam film.”

This is all just a rumor for now, but if Cavill has really pitched a new Superman story and the studio did like it, then it will be cool to see him reprise his role as Superman in a new film! This is what the DC fans have wanted to see! It didn’t make sense to bring Cavill back for just cameo roles as the Man of Steel, he’s got to have his own films to continue his journey.

Cavill previously shared the kind of Superman movie he would like to make, explaining that comic story arc Superman: For Tomorrow is his favorite Superman story, "[It is] one of my favourite comic books. I would definitely like to tell a story like that."

Cavill explains that there is an opportunity here to provide a more inspiring take on the classic hero:

"There’s an opportunity to keep on telling Superman stories, and getting them exactly right. Showing the things like hope and joy and that wonderful power of his to make people believe in themselves."

If you've never read For Tomorrow, the story centers on a cataclysmic event that hits Earth and millions of people have vanished without a trace. "No one is left unaffected; not even Superman! But after a year, Superman is left with many questions. For a hero who tries to have all the answers, it's torture."

I have no idea if this is the story that he pitched to the studio, but it certainly would make for an incredible film.
