Henry Cavill Wants To Play Captain Britain in The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) is ready to jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he would love the opportunity to play Captain Britain. It’s the one Marvel character that he would like to portray on the big screen, and you know what? He’d be great in the role!
During a recent interview with THR, the actor was asked about what Marvel character he would be interested in playing, and this was his response:
"I'm never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone's doing such an amazing job. However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There's something fun about that, and I do love being British."
If Marvel Studios actually moves forward with a Captain Britain film, they’d be stupid not to enlist Cavill to play the character. There have been rumors that a Captain Britain movie might be in development, and Kevin Feige confirmed that there's at least been internal discussion about Captain Britain's role in the MCU and director Guy Ritchie has been rumored to be involved. Nothing official has been announced yet, though.
Captain Britain was created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe and the character made his first appearance in Marvel UK's universe back in 1976.
Captain Britain aka Brian Braddock is a British hero who was gifted with various superpowers via the mighty Merlyn the magician and his daughter Roma who is an Omniversal Guardian. Braddock then vows to protect and uphold the laws and ideals of Britain.
