Here are a Couple of New Non-Video Game Products from BlizzCon
BlizzCon 2019 was this past weekend and while there was plenty to get excited about, there were a couple of things that were announced that weren’t video games. The first item is in partnership with Asmodee, a new board game called Small World – World of Warcraft. This sounds like it’s going to be Small World (which is a fun board game) with a World of Warcraft skin where orcs, elves, humans, and more will all vie to rule Azeroth. I’m hoping that there’s more to it than a simple reskin, but if you’re excited no matter what, you will be able to grab it in Spring 2020.
“Small World – World of Warcraft extends the iconic game experience onto the tabletop where players vie for conquest and control of Azeroth and its world filled with orcs, elves, and more.”
Two other announcements were books. Blizzard has partnered with Scholastic to release Overwatch – The Hero of Numbani and World of Warcraft: Traveler – The Shining Blade. The Hero of Numbani comes from Nicky Drayden and will focus on Efi Oladele and the city of Numbani. The book is now available for pre-order on Amazon with a planned release date of May 5, 2020.
“This epic adventure, from the minds of the Overwatch game team and critically acclaimed author Nicky Drayden, centers on hero Efi Oladele and the futuristic African city of Numbani, where humans live in harmony with humanoid robots known as omnics. When the terrorist Doomfist aims to shatter that unity, Efi rises to the occasion and builds Orisa, a true guardian for Numbani, in an effort to stop Doomfist’s forces before it is too late!”
The Shining Blade will be the end of the Traveler trilogy from Madeleine Roux. It will release on December 26, 2019, and is available for pre-order from Amazon as well.
“[T]he epic conclusion to the Traveler series sees Aramar Thorne and Makasa Flintwill continue their journey across Azeroth to seek out shards of the legendary Diamond Blade and reveal its truth – all while taking on dangerous mercenaries and sorcerers such as Malus and the Hidden.”
