Here are Some Highlights from the AGE OF EMPIRES Fan Preview Event
Over the weekend, World’s Edge and Relic Entertainment showed off quite a bit to get fans excited for Age of Empires IV, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, and Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. I’ve included highlights below with the entire event at the bottom of the page and more details at Xbox Wire.
First, we’ll talk about the update for AOEII. This Summer, fans will be able to enjoy new content starting with the Dawn of the Dukes expansion. This will take players to Eastern Europe via campaigns and more. There will also be a new feature released later this year: Co-Op Historical Battles.
If you’re into AOEIII, fans will have access to the United States civilization, now available. The U.S. will be free for a limited time to anyone who completes a 50 State Challenge (complete 3 challenges per day). If you miss the window of opportunity or don’t want to put the time in, you can also purchase the U.S. civilization for $4.99. Another update is planned for later this year with a focus on African civilizations.
Now, onto AOEIV. Fans got a look at the Delhi Sultanate civilization with the War Elephant unit. We also got a peek at the Norman campaign with the new presentation style. Then, a deeper dive into the gameplay was shown as the English and Delhi Sultanate battle it out in the High Medieval Ages, the Chinese and Mongols duke it out in the Feudal Age, and more.
If you want to test out AOEIV, you can become an Age Insider member on the official site and get the first details on the upcoming closed beta.
One final highlight is that fans can enter between now and April 24 to win an Age of Empires gaming rig. The sweepstakes is open to Age Insiders and the grand prize is “a one-of-a-kind Alienware battlestation, featuring a custom-skinned Age of Empires Alienware Aurora R11 Desktop setup, an Alienware 7.1 Gaming Headset, an Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor, and more!” Details can be found on their site.
