Here are the Highlights from the ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS Direct

Nintendo recently held an Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct where they showed off a ton of new content coming to the game in free and paid updates. There was also pricing information for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass service releasing later this month, but I’m going to talk about that in a separate article. I’ve included the full Direct at the bottom of the page.

First, let’s talk about the free update which is releasing on November 5. Brewster will open up a cafe in the museum after you finish a favor for Blathers called The Roost. I love it! In the cafe, you can relax with some hand-selected coffee and invite characters via amiibo cards. In addition, Kapp’n will take you to remote islands that may have mysterious flora and serenade you with sea shantys. Gyroids are a new item that you can dig up in addition to fossils that play unique sounds you can even customize. Next, Harv’s Island is getting renewed and he’s having Harriet and friends set up an open market. You can contribute Bells to help make it happen and check out some fun new shops including furniture customization and a fortune teller. Also, you can start cooking by mixing vegetables and other ingredients. Finally, Nook, Inc. will offer more support for your island with things like bigger home storage, reducing the rate at which weeds grow, and more.

Now for the paid DLC releasing November 5. Happy Home Paradise will see you working to design vacation homes for characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as part of the Paradise Planning Team. You’ll talk to clients to find out their dreams and then turn those dreams into reality via vacation homes in a new resort area. You’ll choose the location and then become an interior decorator and go all HGTV channel on the home. You’ll also be able to remodel the home and make roommate recommendations. In addition to homes, you’ll be able to help design and develop additional facilities like a cafe and school. Of course, you’ll also be able to share your designs through the Happy Home Network app on your NookPhone and follow your favorite designers for inspiration. If you don’t want to go hunting for clients, you can always use amiibo to invite specific clients to a meeting. Finally, with enough practice, you’ll be able to use your design skills from the Paradise Planning Team on your home island for your home and the residences of your neighbors. The Happy Home Paradise DLC will cost $24.99 or will be included in a NSO + Expansion Pass subscription.

Finally, new Animal Crossing Series 5 amiibo cards will be launching at select stores on November 5. Each pack will include 6 cards and retail for $5.99. There are 48 characters in total in Series 5.
