Here's a New Rumor About Luke in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

There are so many rumors circling around Star Wars: Episode IX that it’s hard to keep track of them all. Express has shared a new “leak” from the film, and we’ll discuss it below. If you don’t want to hear it, stop reading this article now. I mean it. Stop it!

Here’s the leak according to Express:

“Luke Skywalker in front of Rey on a jungle world. In the background are ancient stone steps that lead to some rooms which appear to be a Jedi Temple of some kind. Luke appears to be in his physical form as if he is not dead, but he may be a Force ghost and more solid this time. No blue hue is described in the sequence.

Luke holds his iconic green lightsaber hilt in his hand but not ignited as Rey examines it. This could be one of Luke’s lessons to Rey, teaching her how to develop a lightsaber like his own.

Luke’s face has no beard and shorter hair - shorter than his hair on Crait. He wears a brown robe with white sleeves.”

I’m going to call “BS” on the fact that Luke appears to be in his physical form because he’s not blue. I am going to say that I believe Luke will come back as a Force ghost in all the blue glory included. I could see J.J. Abrams retconning certain aspects of The Last Jedi (please don’t make Rey’s parents somebodies!), but I think Luke’s death will remain final. Of course, just like the masters before him, Luke needs to help finish Rey’s training and it makes perfect sense to do so as a Force ghost.

The part I’m more excited about, though, is the hint that Rey will build her own lightsaber. I’d love for a scene like that to be included in the film. I don’t think that Rey will inherit Luke’s green lightsaber, but I do think she will end up with one before the final act. I personally think Rey would go for a double-bladed lightsaber similar to Darth Maul’s with an unusual color crystal (silver would be cool) to take down Kylo Ren.
