Here's an Update on THE CROWN OF TUNDRA for POKEMON SWORD and SHIELD
This morning, Nintendo shared an update for the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion, Crown of Tundra. We got a very exciting trailer to kick things off, showing off the return of many old Pokémon as well as the Galarian Star Tournament. If you love Legendary Pokémon, you’ll be excited to learn that every previous Legendary Pokémon will be available in the Crown of Tundra, typically as part of Dynamax Adventures. In Dynamax Adventures, you’ll partner up with three other trainers to explore the Dynamax Caves, and then at the end, you’ll typically find one of the Legendary Pokémon.
In the GST, you’ll get to pick a partner from the base game or the expansions in order to try becoming the number one trainer once more in 2v2 battles. I’m very excited for this tournament. It sounds like a lot of fun.
We also got our first look at Galarian Slowking, and he’s pretty awesome. I really like the Galarian Slowpoke line. The Pokémon is exceptionally tall at 5’11” and is a Poison/Psychic mix.
You can also special Pikachus! Each one has one of Ash’s eight hats, and the first one is available now with the password P1KACHUGET. When can we get a Squirtle with the Squirtle Squad glasses though?
The Crown of Tundra will launch on October 22, but you can purchase the Expansion Pass or your version now. On November 6, Nintendo will offer bundles for the games that include the Expansion Pass will be available.
Pokémon Home also got a small update in the video. If you transfer from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home, you’ll get a mystery gift that gives you Meltan. Plus, you’ll get a mystery gift in Sword and Shield that includes a Melmetal that can Gigantamax. The current plan is to have Pokémon Home linked to Pokémon Go by the end of 2020.
The video closes with a fun music video from the Japanese rock band Bump of Chicken. It’s a really cool video, and definitely worth a watch.
