Here's The First Trailer DETECTIVE PIKACHU Starring Ryan Reynolds
Legendary Pictures has released the first trailer for the live-action/CG animated hybrid Pokemon film Detective Pikachu. The movie looks pretty much what I expected it to be. It’s filled with lots of silliness, cheesy charm, and Pokemon. This is the little synopsis that was released with the trailer:
In a world where people collect pocket-size monsters (pokemon) to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective.
The cast for the film includes Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as Pikachu, Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Suki Waterhouse (Revenge), Rita Ora (Fifty Shades Freed) and Bill Nighy (Gideon’s Daughter).
The story of Detective Pikachu centers around Smith’s character’s father getting kidnapped. He teams up with Pikachu (Reynolds) to help find him. Newton plays a journalist who helps them on their quest. Ken Watanabe will play a new character created for the film called Detective Yoshida.
Detective Pikachu is being directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman from a script that is being written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls). Detective Pikachu will be the first film in a planned franchise centering on the character.
Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10th, 2019. Watch the trailer and let us know if it looks like a film you might enjoy watching.
