Here’s What J.J. Abrams Said to Kevin Smith After He Stole Hall H at Comic-Con
I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that J.J. Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm treated fans to free toy Lightsabers and a Star Wars concert at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. 6,500 fans were escorted from Hall H to an outside venue where the concert was being held, and it was one of the greatest Comic-Con experiences ever!
Hall H was completely emptied before the final panel of the day, which was Kevin Smith. Smith tweeted the following while he was backstage waiting to go on:
Oh God. Backstage at #HallH. @starwars panel just invited 6.5k audience to watch a Star Wars concert. Everyone left. pic.twitter.com/kIzfFhWzfY

Smith and Abrams are friends, and I'm sure you remember that Abrams invited Smith to the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to see what he was doing. Abrams was extremely apologetic, and according to Smith, Abrams saw him at the panel and said:
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry, I feel like Darth Vader.”
Smith continued to talk about it on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast, and said that later he even got an e-mail from Abrams saying:
“I’m mortified, I’m fucking like I would never do that to anyone, let alone somebody I adore, like you.”
Smith doesn’t hold any hard feelings toward Abrams even though he definitely got the shaft. He went on to joke about the leverage of guilt that he has and how he can use it to his own advantage by forcing Abrams to make him “a fat stormtrooper." In the end, the guy has a great story to tell, and so does everyone else who was at that Star Wars panel!
