HE'S NOT GONNA TAKE IT Comic Will Celebrate Dee Snider's Fight Against Censorship
Z2 comics is releasing a new graphic novel immortalizing Dee Snider’s fight for free speech. He’s Not Gonna Take It will feature not only his epic testimony to Congress, but will start from his childhood when he was frequently silenced and go through to today with his current efforts on social media. Thinking back on that iconic day in congress, Snider says, “When I look back on that historic day, I think, ‘How did I fit balls that big into those skin tight jeans!?’” Snider recounts. “Then I reflect on the fact that I still stand for everything I stood for all those years ago...and I'm ready to do battle again." There’s not enough time here to go over the intricacies of the Satanic Panic and how it led to those hearings, but it’s a pretty incredible piece of American history to research. You can watch Snider’s testimony to Congress below to get a glimpse of how wild this time period was.
The graphic novel will feature writer Frank Marraffino and artist Steve Kurth, and the covers look amazing. I love the vibe Carlos Olivares, Javier Aranda, and Roy Burdine have brought to their variant covers as they look like they belong in the X-Men universe, and truly nothing could be more fitting for this story than that. I hope that the inside art also reflects that, and with Kurth’s previous work on X-Force it seems likely. It will be available in softcover, hardcover, oversized hardcover, and a deluxe hand signed oversized hardcover and is available for preorder now.
