Hi-Rez Studios Announces Battle Royale Game Mode PALADINS:BATTLEGROUNDS

Last year, Paladins was a free-to-play game that waged a war with Blizzard and managed to carve a strong path for its game in an Overwatch heavy world with a greater focus on competitive gameplay and balancing champions. For those that haven't been keeping tabs on them since they've succeeded and created an eSports scene that Blizzard is still trying to create for Overwatch for this day. Now, they're taking their hit game and moving into the next hottest thing to come out of gaming as they look to stun the gaming industry yet again with Paladins: Battlegrounds

Paladins: Battlegrounds takes the popular Battle Royale genre first popularized by PUBG and blends that with the ability and team aspect that has made Paladins so successful. There will be no solo wrecking crews in this survival series as teams of five pop into a map 300 times the size of the usual Paladins map to battle to grab loot and elmininate their enemies to emerge as the victors.

If you're having trouble envisioning this because you never played Paladins, imagine 20 Overwatch teams battling it out except you actually need to stick with your teammates and play your role to survive.

Unsure how that would all work out? Not to worry, Paladins is free to play so you'll be able to download this upon release (sometime in 2018) and see if you like it for yourself. Until then, check out this trailer and share your thoughts below. Also be sure to watch the HRX Smite and Paladins championships beginning today and all weekend long on their Twitch channels or check the video below the trailer for live Paladins action!
