HIDDEN FIGURES is Second Series Based on the Early Days of the Space Program Being Developed By Nat Geo

TV Hidden Figures by Joey Paur

I'm sure you all remember the wonderful film Hidden Figures that was released in 2016. The film was based on the book which told the true story of the African-American female mathematicians who were instrumental in the early days of the American space program. According to Variety, Nat Geo is now developing a TV series inspired by this story.

The film, which starred Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, and Jim Parsons, was nominated for three Academy Awards, including best picture. I loved the movie and the story that it told and I hope that the TV series ends up being just as good.

The series is in the early stages of development and is being executive produced Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping, who both produced the film as well.

This isn't the only series that the network is developing that is set during the early days of the space program. That are also producing a series based on The Right Stuff, which tells the story of the original Mercury Seven astronauts and their road to taking man into space. Leonardo DiCaprio is attached as a producer on the project.

As a long time fan of NASA and its history, I'm excited to see how both of these projects turn out!
