Hidden Gem in the SHANG-CHI Mid-Credits Scene Could Affect The MCU in Devastating Ways
Now that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is out for everyone to enjoy, I would like to talk about a scene that has piqued my interest since I saw it in the theater. Marvel has done a great job at giving us excellent content in the mid and post-credits scenes in their movies. They are never long, but they are full of Easter Eggs and innuendo leading into the next project. The thing with the mid-credits scene in Shang-Chi is that there is something that I feel was kind of under discussed.
The scene shows Shang-Chi, Katy, Wong, Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner. They are discussing the rings’ origin, how long they have been on earth and why a beacon started transmitting the second Shang became the rings’ new guardian. The fact that the rings are calling out is a great hint at what is to come, but the fact that Banner is no longer Professor Hulk was just as intriguing.
I mean, what is the deal? What happened to the lovely co-existence that Banner and Hulk had formed? It appears that Banner has once again taken the wheel. Why and how did he do it? How did Banner get the upper hand in the fight for control over the Big Green Machine? Well, we may not know why, but they definitely tell us how.
Did any of you notice the band on Banner’s left wrist with the green light? Did you wonder what it was? I did, and I think I have found a rather unusual answer to that question. For the answer to this question, we need to take a trip to the comics and talk about someone else who has the Hulk’s powers. That would be Amadeus Cho aka The Totally Awesome Hulk. For time reasons I will give you a quick rundown of what his deal is. Through a long convoluted series of events, a one time child prodigy who was once called the 7th smartest person on Earth, Cho absorbs the powers of the Hulk and takes over the mantel. Now, what does this have to do with anything? Cho developed technology called Sternbots, which is a device that he wears on his wrist that controls the gamma radiation in his body, thus controlling the monster inside.
Based on the picture above, Banner is wearing that very contraption. That begs the question, why? What happened in End Game that caused him to suppress and or gain more control of his other half? When Thanos snapped in Infinity War, he was transported to Soul World where he had a brief conversation with a young Gammora. When Professor Hulk snapped to bring the blipped back, did Banner see something he didn’t like, causing him to tighten the reigns on the Hulk? I am not sure if you noticed, but Banner is not wearing this device in the trailers for the upcoming series She-Hulk.
So, do the events in She-Hulk take place before Shang-Chi? Does this device mean that the MCU will see one of the most destructive entities in all of Marvel, The Maestro? Did Banner see The Maestro in Soul World? I can’t wait to find out.
Do you have any ideas on what this could be? Please, let us know what you think.
