Highlights from the BlizzConline Opening Ceremonies
During the opening ceremonies of BlizzConline, there were a few announcements made for a wide variety of Blizzard titles. Possibly the biggest announcement was that of Diablo II: Resurrected. This faithful remaster of the classic action-RPG is coming before the end of the year on PC and consoles. It will even include the Lord of Destruction expansion. PC players can head on over to the official site to sign up for the chance to participate in public testing.
Speaking of Diablo, the Rogue class for Diablo IV was shown off. As you’d expect, the Rogue is designed to be fast and deadly. You’ll have a wide range of attacks as well as traps at your disposal to bring down any enemy.
If Diablo’s not your thing, there were still plenty of things to get excited about. Hearthstone players will be kicking off the Year of the Gryphon. This includes the launch of the new Core set of cards and the Classic format. In addition, fans can pre-purchase the first expansion of the year, Forged in the Barrens. Also, Blizzard announced a new single-player and competitive game mode called Hearthstone Mercenaries coming later this year where you collect Warcraft characters and level them up in tactical battles.
World of Warcraft fans got excited for the announcement of Chains of Domination. This is the first major content update for the Shadowlands expansion and will be releasing later this year. It features an all-new charity pet program with two separate pets: Bananas the monkey and Daisy the sloth. These pets will be unlocked once certain donation goals are met. Fans will also be able to enjoy an authentic recreation of the first expansion in Burning Crusade Classic. This will be released later this year at no additional cost to subscribers.
Finally, if you purchased the Celebration Collection, you may notice that you’ve received a bit more than originally expected. It was revealed during BlizzConline that the collections also included the Blizzard Arcade Collection. This is a collection of classic Blizzard games: The Lost Vikings, Rock N Roll Racing, and Blackthorne. If you missed it, you can purchase the collection separately for $19.99.
