Hilarious Behind the Scenes “Robo Wants an Oreo” ROBOCOP Story
A hilarious behind the scenes RoboCop story has been making the rounds online recently, and if you haven’t heard it yet, you’re going to love it! The story comes from the recently released documentary series RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop, and you can watch the clip below that recounts the story.
The clip features weapons master Randy E. Moore, who shares a story about RoboCop star Peter Weller, and how one day he had a serious craving for Oreos on the set of the film. Moore shares:
“I went upstairs and I was carrying about eight Oreos in a stack. I’d hand [Peter] his weapon and I’d say, ‘Peter, safety’s off.’ And he wouldn’t take the pistol. And he says, ‘Robo wants an Oreo.’ And I looked at him and I go, ‘No. It’s just you and I, Peter. Robo doesn’t get an Oreo. If PETER wants an Oreo, Peter can have an Oreo.’ And he clip-clops in the suit, over to the edge of the railing, and Peter starts bellowing, ‘Robo wants an Oreo!’ And the steel mill just echoes.”
Moore then defiantly shoved the entire stack of Oreos in his mouth in the face of Weller’s request. I just can’t help but love the fact that Weller was in-character this whole time, and it’s one of those things that you wish would’ve been filmed.
The clip ends with Weller sharing his own recollection of the events of the story, which he doesn’t actually recall. He said in an agitated manner: “I haven’t got a damn clue about Randy Moore and his f –kin’ Oreos.”
RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop is a four-part Screambox Original Series that dives deep into the making of Paul Verhoeven’s iconic classic, RoboCop.
