Hilarious Teaser Trailer for Taika Waititi’s HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE

One of the best films that I’ve seen at Sundance so far is Taika Waititi’s Hunt For the Wilderpeople. This was a hilarious movie that had me and everyone else in the audience rolling with laughter. It also tells a very touching, heartfelt story that the world needs to see. I wrote a review of it over the weekend and you can read that here in case you missed it.

Thanks to Pili Films, I’ve got a teaser trailer to share with you that gives you a little taste of what you will see in the movie. It shows you all the ways that the main character, Ricky Baker, is a “bad egg.”

The movie stars Sam Neill and Julian Dennison as the main characters, and it is based on Barry Crump’s book Wild Pork and Watercress, which was adapted for the screen by Waititi. Here’s the synopsis:

Raised on hip-hop and foster care, defiant city kid Ricky gets a fresh start in the New Zealand countryside. He quickly finds himself at home with his new foster family: the loving Aunt Bella, the cantankerous Uncle Hec, and dog Tupac. When a tragedy strikes that threatens to ship Ricky to another home, both he and Hec go on the run in the bush. As a national manhunt ensues, the newly branded outlaws must face their options: go out in a blaze of glory or overcome their differences and survive as a family.

Last year Waititi brought the hilarious vampire comedy What We Do In Shadows to Sundance, which was an amazing film! If you enjoyed that film, you’re really gonna love this one. The director is currently developing Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel, and after seeing this, I’m even more excited to see what he does with that.

Introducing Ricky Baker (Julian Dennison). He's a real bad egg. This isn't the trailer people. Official trailer coming soon....This is the teaser for HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE, the latest film from celebrated director Taika Waititi. New Zealand cinema release 31 March 2016.
