Hilariously Charming Trailer for The Comedy THE BIG SICK with Kumail Nanjiani and Ray Romano

When I was at The Sundance Film Festival this year, one of the most talked about films was The Big Sick. This is one film that I really wanted to see but, unfortunately, it was one of those movies that I wasn't able to attend.  The first trailer has been released for the movie and I'm wishing that I would have been able to make it to one of the screenings because it looks fantastic! It could very well be one of the best comedies that's released this summer.

The movie was produced by Judd Apatow and it has a great cast that includes comedian Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks, What If), Holly Hunter and Ray Romano. One of the things that make this movie so interesting is that it's actually based on the real-life courtship between Nanjiani and his real-life wife Emily V. Gordon. Here's the full synopsis:

The Big Sick tells the story of Pakistan-born aspiring comedian Kumail (Kumail Nanjiani), who connects with grad student Emily (Zoe Kazan) after one of his standup sets. However, what they thought would be just a one-night stand blossoms into the real thing, which complicates the life that is expected of Kumail by his traditional Muslim parents. When Emily is beset with a mystery illness, it forces Kumail to navigate the medical crisis with her parents, Beth and Terry (Holly Hunter and Ray Romano) who he’s never met, while dealing with the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart.

The Big Sick will get a theatrical limited release on June 23rd and will expand on July 14th.

Watch the official The Big Sick trailer with a special introduction from Kumail Nanjiani and Ray Romano. The Big Sick is based on the real-life courtship between Pakistan-born comedian Kumail Nanjiani (Kumail Nanjiani) and grad student Emily Gordon (Zoe Kazan) who fall in love but struggle as their cultures clash.
