History's VIKINGS Series Will End With Season 6 and There's a Spinoff Series in Development
History Channel’s Vikings has been a great show that I’ve enjoyed watching over the years. Well, the story they set out to tell is finally coming to an end with its sixth season.
As a fan of the series, I’m kinda sad to see it go. But, according to Deadline, there is a spinoff series in development! That series is coming from Vikings creator Michael Hirst and the same creative team who worked on Vikings along with the addition of writer Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive).
In case you weren’t aware, Hirst has written every episode of Vikings, which is why I think it has been so consistently good.
Vikings originally set out to follow the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok (Fimmel) and tell the sagas of Ragnar’s band of Viking brothers and his family. Because it was based on actual historical figures and events, Vikings had a finite number of stories to tell, and had been building towards an end
According to the report, the spinoff would “continue the Vikings saga.” There were no details offered on what the plot or story would entail or what characters would be involved. A series like this could bring back some familiar faces, or it could start fresh with a whole new group of characters.
As much as I love the characters that have been introduced in Vikings, I actually prefer a new series that would focus on a new group of vikings.
Vikings is in the middle of its fifth season and season six will most likely premiere in 2020. What are your thoughts on Vikings coming to an end? What would you like to see in the followup series?
