We’ve got a new Honest Trailers to enjoy, and this time its sights are locked on The Mandalorian and Grogu. The popular parody series unloads a full barrage of jokes at the latest Star Wars adventure, and even if you had a blast with the movie, there's plenty here to laugh about.
The trailer takes swings at just about everything, from Disney's habit of turning streaming series into theatrical movies to Grogu's seemingly endless ability to melt hearts no matter what's happening around him.
It also has some fun with Dave Filoni's affection for Rotta the Hutt, the franchise's constant return to familiar faces and ideas, and the lingering question of whether Star Wars is following creative instincts or corporate strategy.
As someone who loved The Mandalorian and Grogu and had an awesome time watching it, I can still appreciate a good roast. One of the reasons Honest Trailers continues to work is because it finds the little quirks and storytelling habits fans have already noticed and turns them into comedy. Even when it's poking fun at a movie you really enjoyed, it's all part of the fun.
There are some painfully accurate observations mixed in with plenty of sarcastic jokes, and it's hard not to laugh when the series points out some of the franchise's more familiar patterns. Whether you agree with every criticism or not, it's entertaining to see the movie get the Honest Trailers treatment.
