Hopefully this SCRUBS TV Movie Stays a Daydream

I loved Scrubs. It was a hilarious show that helped me get through a rough time in high school. I thought it ended really well too (ignoring the 9th season which was supposed to be a spin-off series anyway). We got to see JD’s future through a montage, and it was very satisfying. That’s why I was shocked to hear that Zach Braff has casually mentioned a minute chance of a Scrubs revival in the form of a TV movie similar to what Psych has done. I never watched Psych, so I’m not sure as to how the series ended, nor how good the TV movie was. In an interview with Variety about his new show Alex, Inc., Braff was asked about the possibility of a revival since those are all the rage these days and he provides this response:

We might do a TV movie — we daydream about that. We’re all doing so many different things that we love, so the idea of going back and signing a long contract doing years and years of “Scrubs” is not on our minds. What’s more realistic is Bill and I are very close and we often laugh about what would it look like to do a two-hour movie — like what “Psych” did.

I am glad that he’s seemingly not interested in reviving it as a series, but I think this may be something that is best left as a daydream. My main concern comes from the fact that he pitched an idea to Bill Lawrence who was the original creator. Talking to In Touch, Braff explains:

I had a whole TV movie pitch for Bill Lawrence. I can’t tell you because it’s part of my pitch, but I told him this whole pitch over dinner and he laughed a lot and said, ‘We’ll see, we’ll see.’ I think it would be fun to do a two-hour Scrubs movie — I would totally do that!

The revivals and reboots are getting out of hand. While I love Scrubs and love the sentiment behind bringing it back for another go and seeing the great characters again, I think it’s best that we leave it alone. Would you watch a Scrubs TV movie? Is there another show that you think should get a TV movie revival?
