Hot Toys’ MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Figures Deliver an Awesome Look at He-Man and Skeletor
Fans have gotten a new look at the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe movie thanks to a pair of insanely detailed Hot Toys figures based on Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man and Jared Leto’s Skeletor.
With the movie arriving in theaters next week, these collectibles are offering a closer inspection of the costumes, armor, and overall designs that will bring Eternia back to the big screen.
The 1/6th-scale figures come straight from Hot Toys, and while only He-Man and Skeletor have been revealed so far, there’s plenty of room for more characters from the movie lineup to join the collection later. Looking at the supporting cast alone, Hot Toys has no shortage of cool options if they decide to keep going.
He-Man’s figure puts a lot of attention on the finer details of the character’s battle gear. The seamless body design helps avoid the exposed joints most figures usually have, which gives the collectible a more lifelike appearance. Prince Adam’s outfit may be minimal, but the sculpted armor pieces, belt, gauntlets, and chest harness all look fantastic up close.
Skeletor, though, might steal the spotlight here. The figure comes equipped with the villain’s Havoc Staff and crown, giving fans a much clearer look at the live-action version of the iconic character.
The skull-like face sculpt, body markings, armor details, and dark costume design all come together in a way that feels pulled right out of a fantasy metal album cover. Whatever people may think about Leto taking on the role, the actual visual design for Skeletor looks pretty badass.
He-Man stands atop a Castle Grayskull-themed platform while Skeletor gets a Snake Mountain-inspired base. Side-by-side, they make for a seriously awesome display setup that collectors are probably already trying to justify buying.
The upcoming film is directed by Travis Knight, who is bringing the legendary franchise back to theaters with a live-action adventure centered on Prince Adam’s return to Eternia after being separated from his home for 15 years.
The official synopsis reads: “After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto).
To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.”
The cast for the film also includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as Goat Man, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, Stephen Adentan as Moss Man, James Wilkinson as Mekaneck, and Kristen Wiig as Roboto.
Between the movie’s growing hype and these awesome Hot Toys reveals, Masters of the Universe fans are finally getting a taste of what Eternia is going to look like in live-action form.
Masters of the Universe opens in theaters on June 5.
