Hot Toys' Tony Stark with Arc Reactor Creation 1/6th Scale Set
After jumping in the water first and making such a big splash with the first Iron Man film, it seemed like Jon Favreau was forced to awkwardly tread the same same water in Iron Man 2 so as to not swim too far ahead of the origin films for Captain America and Thor, which were a solid year or more away. The stakes didn’t seem high enough, and all the groundwork being laid for the eventual Avengers team up just wasn’t as fun as it could have been. Even though Iron Man 2 had its missteps — pretty much everyone involved in the making of that film, including Favreau and Robert Downey, Jr., have acknowledged its flaws — it had some extraordinary set pieces and very iconic imagery. Who granted Mickey Rourke’s requests to do scenes in his underwear? Yeah, that was Favs. But who made a scene involving an overflowing amount of bullshit science fun and memorable? Give your compliments to the Chef on that one. That scene is beautifully replicated in the Tony Stark with Arc Reactor Creation 1/6th Scale Set that Hot Toys has announced. Here’s a description of what comes with the set:
“This collectible set includes a specially crafted collectible figure based on the image of Robert Downey Jr. as the genius billionaire Tony Stark in Iron Man 2, featuring a newly developed head sculpt, an advanced body with light-up chest light, detailed outfit, the Captain America shield prototype which he has used to level the particle accelerator and workshop accessories.”
