HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 3 Trailer Teases Corlys Velaryon’s Fate and Rhaenyra’s Ruthless Next Move

HBO Max has released a new “Weeks Ahead” trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3, offering fans a look at what’s coming after the devastating Battle of the Gullet premiere.

The footage doesn’t just tease the next battles in the Dance of the Dragons, it also appears to answer one of the biggest questions left hanging after Episode 1.

Fans have been wondering whether Lord Corlys Velaryon, the legendary Sea Snake, survived the brutal naval conflict that claimed the life of Prince Jacaerys Velaryon and his dragon Vermax. While the premiere left his fate uncertain, the new trailer strongly suggests Corlys may have made it out alive.

During the battle, Corlys found himself locked in vicious combat aboard his ship as Triarchy forces overwhelmed the Velaryon fleet.

The new footage includes a shot of Seasmoke soaring through the skies, leading many viewers to believe Addam Velaryon could be involved in a rescue effort. While HBO isn’t giving away the full story just yet, Corlys’ survival appears increasingly likely heading into Episode 2.

The trailer also puts a spotlight on Rhaenyra Targaryen as she continues her transformation in the wake of devastating personal losses. Grief, anger, and vengeance seem to be driving her forward as the conflict escalates.

At one point, Rhaenyra declares: “What crumbs of it may be snatched, I will devour.” That determination is echoed by Daemon Targaryen, who appears ready to push her toward claiming power by any means necessary. He tells her: “This is the moment you become queen.” He then adds: “The patient hunter gets the kill.”

While Rhaenyra looks ready to fight for her birthright, the trailer also hints that her path to the throne won’t be welcomed by everyone. Resistance appears to be growing within King’s Landing, with one unidentified figure delivering a direct challenge: “You can burn us, you can kill us, you will never make us embrace her.”

Rhaenyra’s response leaves little doubt about where she stands: “I wear my father’s crown; my enemies will not deny me my right.”

Elsewhere, the Greens continue preparing for war. Aegon II remains consumed by revenge and makes his intentions crystal clear when he says: “I swear, I’m going to find him and f—ing kill him.”

The trailer also introduces a larger role for James Norton’s Ormund Hightower, who looks poised to become a major force this season. Leading the Hightower armies into battle, Ormund dismisses Rhaenyra as: “weak and unsuited to rule” while promising to restore the Greens’ claim to the Iron Throne.

Another key voice of caution comes from Alicent Hightower, who offers a grim warning about the cost of power, saying “The crown is a weight that crushes”

Her words suggest that both sides of the war are about to face impossible choices as the conflict spirals further out of control.

The Season 3 premiere already delivered one of the most significant battles from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, while also introducing Tommy Flanagan as Roddy the Ruin and bringing the Starks into the story.

With dragons taking flight, armies marching to war, and Rhaenyra embracing a far more dangerous mindset, House of the Dragon Season 3 looks ready to raise the stakes once again.

House of the Dragon Season 3 consists of eight episodes, with new episodes airing weekly on HBO and HBO Max. Episode 2 premieres on Sunday, June 28, at 9:00 pm.
