HBO Boss Says HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Will Likely Return in Summer 2024 and Discusses Other Spinoff Possibilities
The Game of Thrones spinoff series House of the Dragon ended up being a huge success for HBO. The fans seemed to love it, and there’s been a lot of excitement about the possibilities of where the story goes after the events of the first season.
Well, we’ve still got a while to wait as HBO CEO Casey Bloys has shared that the show most likely won’t return until the summer of 2024. Bloys also addressed the other GoT spinoffs that are currently in development, and those are going to take even more time to get off the ground. He explained:
“Remember to get House of the Dragon following up from Game of Thrones, we developed a lot of shows, shot a pilot, developed a bunch of scripts and we got House of the Dragon. To do that again is going to take the same amount of effort. You have to develop a lot of things, try things. You never know what’s going to work. So we’re currently doing that.”
He went on to say that he’s open to developing any number of Games of Thrones shows:
“I’m not opposed to any number of shows. There’s probably a natural limit to how many fans want, but I’m open to any as long as we feel really good about the scripts and the prospects for a series.”
Bloys also made of point of saying that the quality of the spinoff shows will determine whether they get the green light or not:
“My philosophy is a good script is number one priority. I am not doing it based on wanting to have one a year, two a year. I want to do it based on the scripts that we’re excited about.”
Are you looking forward to the return of House of the Dragon in 2024? Are you up for seeing more Game of Thrones spinoff shows being developed?
