HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON is Getting a Live-Action Film Adaptation!

DreamWorks Animation’s popular animated fantasy epic How To Train Your Dragon is getting a live-action film adaptation! With Disney raking in the big bucks by remaking their animated classics in live-action, I guess it was only a matter of time before we started seeing it happen with some of the DreamWorks movies.

The project is set up at Universal Pictures and the director behind the original films, Dean DeBlois, is set to write, direct, and produce the movie. The project is already in development and the studio has set its release date for March 14th, 2025. Casting is currently underway.

It’s explained that this new Dragon “will adapt the trilogy of movies that were made by DreamWorks.” How to Train Your Dragon is based on the books by Cressida Cowell, and the story focused on the special friendship between a young Viking boy named Hiccup and Toothless, an injured dragon he nurses back to health. It was a coming-of-age story that followed them on a quest to take on humanity’s prejudice against dragons.

Well, I wish the creative team the best of luck, and I hope that they deliver a great live-action adaptation that the fans will love. This was such a great franchise, and with the original writer and director involved, I think it has a good chance of succeeding. What do you all think?
