New Trailer for BLACK PHONE 2 Unleashes the Grabber’s Freddy Krueger Vibes

The Grabber isn’t finished terrorizing us yet. Universal just released a new trailer for Scott Derrickson’s upcoming horror sequel Black Phone 2, and it looks like this time around the masked killer is going full Freddy Krueger by haunting his victims in their dreams.

Black Phone 2 has officially been slapped with an R rating for “Strong violent content, gore, teen drug use, and language.” And if the trailer is anything to go by, audiences can expect an Elm Street-style nightmare ride where Ethan Hawke’s Grabber is back and claiming new victims.

Here’s the official story setup: “Four years ago, 13-year-old Finn killed his abductor and escaped, becoming the sole survivor of The Grabber. But true evil transcends death … and the phone is ringing again.

“Four-time Academy Award® nominee Ethan Hawke returns to the most sinister role of his career as The Grabber seeks vengeance on Finn (Mason Thames) from beyond the grave by menacing Finn’s younger sister, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw).

“As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.

“Determined to solve the mystery and end the torment for both her and her brother, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm. There, she uncovers a shattering intersection between The Grabber and her own family’s history.

“Together, she and Finn must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death and more significant to them than either could imagine.”

Black Phone 2 reunites Derrickson with longtime collaborator C. Robert Cargill, who co-wrote the script. Joe Hill, who wrote the original short story, is back as executive producer, ensuring the sequel stays true to its chilling roots.

The first film became a modern horror hit with its mix of supernatural terror and grounded character drama, and it looks like this sequel is turning up the nightmare factor even more with its dream-stalking kills.
