Hugh Jackman Discusses The Disney and Fox Merger and if He'd Come Back To Play Wolverine For Marvel

Hugh Jackman has heard about the potential Disney and Fox merger, and he sounds excited. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like he's so excited he's going to ask Fox to retcon his death so he can come back and fight as Wolverine alongside the Avengers, but there does seem to be some want to do that in his quote to Collider below:

“It’s interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head. But it was like, 'Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,' and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, 'Hang on!' But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there.”

I'm all for throwing out continuity if it means Hugh Jackman can appear in Avengers: Infinity War. Let's be honest, the X-Men timeline is a mess anyway so why not add one more inconsistency? It's actually kind of sad this didn't happen back when all the X-Men actors were still in their prime because I can't imagine anything better than seeing all of them along for the ride next to The Avengers in an adventure. What are your thoughts on all of this?
