Hugh Jackman Discusses Wolverine's Future in the MCU - "Somebody Else Will Pick It Up and Run with It"

Hugh Jackman has a great and long run in the role of Wolverine, and his story arc ended perfectly with his final film Logan. It’s a shame that he’ll never get his chance to play the character in the MCU, but we do know the character will be back, and right now fans are patiently waiting to see who Marvel ends up casting in the role because whoever it is has some big shoes to fill.

During a recent interview with The Daily Beast, the actor was asked if he would be up for joining the MCU and this was his response:

“If seven years ago that had happened I’d be like, ‘Oh yeah!’ But I knew it was the right time for me to leave the party – not just for me, but for the character.”

He went on to say that another actor will come in to take on the role when Marvel is ready to bring the character back to the big screen:

"Somebody else will pick it up and run with it. It’s too good of a character not to. It’s kind of like, you’re on your way home and your friend rings you and goes, 'Oh, dude, a new DJ just came on and the music is awesome, are you going to come back?' And you say, 'Sounds good but… no.' They’re fine with someone else."

So, for those of you still holding out with the hope that Jackman might return, you can put a wooden stake in the heart of that hope and bury it.

When Wolverine does make his MCU debut, I seriously hope that it will also involve the Hulk. Seeing these two legendary Marvel characters on the big screen is something that every freakin’ Marvel fan wants to see! It would be insane if Kevin Feige didn’t do this!
