Hugh Jackman Is Excited to See What Marvel Studios Does with Wolverine
Hugh Jackman may not be playing Wolverine anymore, but that doesn’t mean he’s not excited for the future of the franchise as the rights of the character end up back in the hands of Marvel Studios.
While talking with MTV, Jackman was asked if he’s curious and excited to see what the X-Men franchise will be like in the hands of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and he responded with “100%”. Jackman then went on to talk about his relationship with Feige and how much of a fan he is of executive.
Turns out Feige offered to drive Jackman to the airport for his first audition. Feige got his start as working as an assistant for producer Lauren Shuler Donner, and she hired him as an associate producer on the first X-Men film. His comic book knowledge played a big hand in that, and he quickly rose up through the Marvel ranks.
Jackman went on to say that Feige’s office is filled with "wall-to-wall comic books." There’ are also a bunch of posters and "600 figurines of different characters."
When Jackman was preparing for his role of Wolverine in X-Men, he went to Feige for advice on which X-Men comics he should read to learn about Wolverine to learn about the character. The actor went on to say:
"We've stayed friends ever since, and nothing makes me happier to know that someone who is purely creative, purely a lover of the legacy of those comic books is this successful."
He then joked:
"You know, you hear all the time 'Hollywood's run by suits' and I go, 'Kevin Feige.' If it's a suit, it's got a cape.”
We have no idea what Marvel Studio is planing for Wolverine and the X-Men in the future. We don’t know when or how they will be introduced to the MCU. But one day it will happen, and when it does, the fans are going to be there excited to watch it!
