Hugh Jackman Reveals How He's Getting Ripped For Wolverine in DEADPOOL 3 and It Doesn't Involve Steroids

Every time Hugh Jackman jumps into the role of Wolverine, the guy gets completely ripped! It’s like he gets in better and better shape every time he plays the character, and with Deadpool 3 coming up, he’s going through that crazy process of getting into superhero shape.

While most people are calling the film Deadpool 3, Jackman is calling it Wolverine 10. Regardless of what you call it, Jackman is on a diet that will take him to a goal 6,000 calories a day! He’s working his way up to that and is currently at about 4,500 calories a day! During an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the actor said:

"It's 6,000 calories. About 6,000 calories a day. I think at the moment, I'm building up, at about 4,000-5,000 calories. I wore a heart rate monitor as Harold Hill. So, my trainer said I need to know what I'm working with here, because I'm trying to bulk up. So, I burn 1,500 calories during the show, eight times a week. She said, you got to eat!"

I can’t even imagine eating that much food! That’s a lot of food! There’s been a lot of talk of steroid use lately with actors bulking up for movie roles and in a separate interview with Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace (via Variety), Jackman was asked whether or not he’s ever been on “the juice,” or taken steroids to improve his body when prepping to play Wolverine, and this was his response:

“No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine. I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old-school way. And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens — I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally, the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”

Good for him! I love that Jackman just gets in shape with good ol’ fashion diet and exercise. It’s pretty incredible to see how he’s been able to bulk up the way he does! The guy’s certainly committed to the role and super disciplined as he works his ass off.
