Hugh Jackman Says Making DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Is One of the Greatest Experiences of His Career

Marvel Studios recently screened 35 minutes of footage of Deadpool & Wolverine at a fan event in Shanghai, China, and Hugh Jackman was there and talked about the film and his experience making it.

When talking about his decision to come back to play Wolverine again for the movie, he said: "I thought I was finished with it seven years ago. But as soon as we came up with this idea, I knew that this was the matchup that people wanted, that I wanted, that Ryan wanted, that fans wanted."

When talking about the story and his character in the film, Jackman said the film contains "sides of Wolverine that I've never played before, and that challenged me as an actor and excited me.”

He added: "I feel in many ways fans of Wolverine — because of Deadpool, because of [Reynolds and Levy], are going to see a fuller, more different side to him than you've seen before. And that was thrilling for me, and I hope it is for you."

The actor went on to share: "The experience of making the movie was also one of the greatest of my career, and I've been playing Wolverine for 25 years.”

“This experience exceeded anything I've done before as this character — and in many other movies, in anything. I loved it. And I think it shows on the screen.

“You can feel the warmth. The movie has a warmth to it, and it's funny, and it's irreverent, and the action is crazy. But I think you can feel the friendship."

The feeling is mutual for Ryan Reynolds, who shared at the same even that Deadpool & Wolverine is the “best movie “I’ve ever done.”

It’s awesome that Jackman came back to play Wolverine again after he retired from the role. It seems like his return is the only reason why Marvel Studios’ head Kevin Feige decided to move forward with the film. Reynolds and director Shawn Levy pitched several different concepts to Marvel, but it wasn’t until Jackman came on board that Feige said yes.

Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine opens in theaters July 26th.
