Hulu Cancels HIGH FIDELITY After One Season

Well, that didn’t last long. After only one season, Hulu has canceled Zoë Kravitz’s High Fidelity. The series will not be getting a second season.

The series was a reimagining of Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel and the 2000 John Cusack movie, and it was actually pretty good! I enjoyed watching the first season, so I’m kinda bummed out that we won’t get to see the story continue.

The series got good reviews and audiences seemed to like it. It’s explained that the decision to cancel it was not easy “and came after lengthy deliberations.” The report goes on to a that the show “had internal support at Hulu, whose brass took extra time to mull a potential renewal, with sibling ABC Signature extending the options on the cast by a month to accommodate that. In the end, the streamer opted not to proceed with a second season.”

As for the series finding a new home to support it, that is apparently a “long shot.” The series was originally set up at Disney+, but due to the more mature manner of the series, they opted to move it to Hulu.

It’s weird, I see several crappy shows on Hulu get picked up for new seasons, but then a decent one like High Fidelity gets kicked to the curb.

In High Fidelity, Kravitz played Rob, a record store owner in the rapidly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood of Crown Heights who revisits past relationships through music and pop culture, while trying to get over her one true love.

Did you watch High Fidelity? If so, what did you think?
