HULU News: Mahershala Ali Joining Season 2 of RAMY, and Amy Schumer Creating New Series For the Streamer

Last week, Hulu presented a panel at the Television Critics Association, where they gave info on some new and returning series for all us Hulu subscribers. We’ve got the rundown for you, via slashfilm. While we all know that Mahershala Ali is set to play the new Blade for Marvel studios, that movie is still a ways off. In the meantime, Ali will be joining the second season of the series Ramy, alongside comedian star, and creator, Ramy Youssef. I just watched Hassan’s HBO special, and he is so hilarious, with such a fresh perspective. This series is on my list to watch. We will see the second season in 2020. Here’s a synopsis for the series:

“Ramy follows first-generation, Egyptian-American Ramy Hassan (Ramy Youssef) who is on a spiritual journey in his politically-divided New Jersey neighborhood. Ramy brings a new perspective to the screen as it explores the challenges of what it’s like to be caught between a religious community who believes life is a moral test, and a millennial generation that might not believe in an afterlife. In the second season, Ramy will delve further into his spiritual journey, finding a new Muslim community and embracing a deeper commitment to Islam.”

Amy Schumer is back on TV, as creator, director, writer, executive producer and star of new series Love, Beth. It will be a half-hour comedy series set to air in 2020, which is all the info we are getting for now, but Hulu promises to release more info very soon.

Marvel’s Runaways will be back for a third season on December 13. Here’s the synopsis for the upcoming season:

In an action-packed Season 3, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert and Karolina. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face.

And, as we already reported, The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a fourth season. This is great news, as it’s one of my favorite shows on TV right now. Hulu also announced the following premiere dates: Reprisal on December 6, Dollface on November 15, Wu-Tang: An American Saga on September 4, Looking for Alaska on October 18 and Castle Rock season two this fall. Pretty exciting lineup! What are you most excited for?
