Hulu’s MURDAUGH: DEATH IN THE FAMILY Trailer Reveals Jason Clarke as the Ruthless Patriarch

Hulu has released the first trailer for its upcoming limited series Murdaugh: Death in the Family, and it gives us a chilling look at Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh, the patriarch of a powerful Southern dynasty whose life of privilege begins to unravel.

Murdaugh: Death in the Family takes inspiration from the Murdaugh Murders podcast and dramatizes the true events surrounding Alex and Maggie Murdaugh, played by Patricia Arquette.

Their seemingly charmed existence begins to spiral after their son Paul (played by Johnny Berchtold) is involved in a deadly boat crash. As the investigation deepens, a dark web of secrets, scandals, and mysterious deaths begins to connect back to the Murdaugh family.

The official synopsis reads: “Maggie and Alex enjoy a lavish life of privilege as members of one of South Carolina's most powerful legal dynasties. But when their son Paul is involved in a deadly boat crash, the family is faced with a test unlike any they've ever encountered.

“As details come to light and new challenges emerge, the family's connections to several mysterious deaths raise questions which threaten everything Maggie and Alex hold dear. Inspired by the popular Murdaugh Murders Podcast.”

The trailer highlights Clarke’s chilling take on Alex, who casually drops the line, “It’s only cheating if you get caught,” underscoring his ruthless and morally bankrupt mindset.

The cast also includes Will Harrison, Brittany Snow, J. Smith-Cameron, Gerald McRaney, and Noah Emmerich.

With its mix of true crime intrigue, a powerhouse cast, and a story ripped from headlines, Murdaugh: Death in the Family looks to be one of Hulu’s most gripping dramas of the year.

The eight-episode drama, from showrunner Michael D. Fuller and co-creator Erin Lee Carr, is set to premiere on October 15th with three episodes dropping on day one. New episodes will roll out each Wednesday, leading to the finale on November 19.
