HUNGRY Trailer Unleashes a Killer Hippo in This Wild Swamp Survival Horror Ride
There are creature features, and then there’s whatever this is. A new trailer just dropped for Hungry, and it takes a concept that sounds like a joke and plays it completely straight. The result is a wild, swamp-soaked horror ride about a killer hippo.
Aura Entertainment unveiled the trailer and it leans hard into the chaos. Think the spirit of a certain ball-chomping board game, but reimagined as a brutal survival thriller. It’s not officially tied to that game, but you’ll get the vibe.
The film centers on a group of tourists chasing a thrill in the Louisiana bayou. What starts as a scenic riverboat adventure quickly turns into a nightmare when their guide takes them somewhere they definitely shouldn’t be. Waiting in the water is a massive, angry hippo that treats the swamp like its personal hunting ground.
As the film’s description puts it: “‘All aboard the swamp tour from hell.’ Hungry follows thrill-seeking tourists on a riverboat tour through the treacherous Louisiana swamplands.
“Lured off the beaten path by the promise of an exclusive adventure, they soon find themselves fighting for survival against a ravenous hippopotamus lurking beneath the bayou’s murky waters.
“Set in a mysterious and dangerous landscape, Hungry is a tense survival thriller about an impossible battle with one of nature's deadliest predators."
The cast includes Madison Davenport, Joaquim de Almeida, Olivia Bernstone, Tracey Bonner, Michel Curiel, Jim Meskimen, Samantha Coughlan, and River Codack.
The movie comes from director James Nunn, who has built a career delivering lean, action-driven genre films like Tower Block, Eliminators, and One Shot. This time, he swaps bullets for teeth and drops his characters into murky water where they’re definitely not at the top of the food chain.
The trailer delivers exactly what you’d hope for. It’s intense, a little ridiculous, and fully committed to the idea of a “hippo from hell” terrorizing a swamp full of unlucky tourists. The animal looks aggressive, fast, and seriously pissed off. It’s the kind of creature feature energy that doesn’t try to be clever. It just wants to entertain.
Hungry is set to hit VOD on June 23rd, 2026, and if you’re into over-the-top survival horror with a killer animal twist, this one might be worth diving into.
