I Open the Very Cluttered GHOSTS FROM THE PAST Set for YU-GI-OH!
Konami has released the latest booster set for Yu-Gi-Oh!, Ghosts from the Past. This set offers 132 cards with 127 Ultra Rares and 5 Ghost Rares. The five Ghost Rares are Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, Firewall Dragon, and Black Luster Soldier – Soldier of Chaos. Duelists can buy a box for $14.99 from their local game stores (or wherever they buy cards) and each box has 3 packs with 5 cards each. Konami was kind enough to send me a display box that comes with 5 boxes for a total of 15 packs or 75 chances to pull a Ghost Rare. Huge thanks to them!
Now, I do want to talk about my thoughts about this pack. Ghosts from the Past is not the best set in my opinion. It’s too cluttered and tries to do too much. First, I think this set could have and should have just been reprints with a name like Ghosts from the Past. I don’t mind including a couple of new cards to help revive old archetypes though, although there should be few in my opinion.. Instead, we get two archetypes, a broken up Dragunity structure deck to disappoint duelists, a few OCG imports, and then a ton of reprints. In my opinion, the set should’ve had a lot fewer cards (I’m thinking about 60) and then have the new archetypes in a separate set and keep the Dragunity cards in a structure deck.
All of that being said, I do appreciate Ultra Rare sets as a way to do rarity bumps at an affordable price. The chase for the Ghost Rares is fun, I just wish there was a much smaller pool. Please let me know what you pulled in the comments, especially if you got a Ghost Rare!
