Ice Cube Drops Out of Jack Black's Comedy OH HELL NO After Declining to Get the Vaccine

Ice Cube has dropped out of the upcoming Jack Black comedy set up at Sony Pictures, Oh Hell No. The reason he left was that producers wanted him to get the Vaccine against COIVD, and Cube was like, “Oh, hell no!”

Cube feels so strongly about not getting the vaccine that he walked away from a $9 million payday. That’s how much he would have made on the film. He’s obviously not hurting for money and can afford to walk away from that kind of cash.

Cube and Black partnered on the project in June. The movie was looking to start production this winter in Hawaii with director Kitao Sakurai, the filmmaker behind Netflix’s breakout comedy Bad Trip. That production start date has now been pushed back as the studio looks for someone who will replace Cube.

While Cube has a problem the the vaccine, he has no problem with masks. He’s promoted mask-wearing through the past year.

Throughout the pandemic, Ice Cube has promoted mask-wearing. Bacone College in Oklahoma thanked the actor and others in August for donating 2,000 face masks to be used as personal protective equipment. During COVID-19 lockdowns in April 2020, he released "Check Yo Self Before You Wreck Yo Self" branded T-shirts in collaboration with the firm Black Out, with proceeds benefiting frontline health workers.

Oh Hell No is the second project that Ice Cube has left in recent months. He also left the boxing movie Flint Strong, but it’s unclear what circumstances prompted the departure.
