Ice Cube Says Jackie Chan Deserves an Oscar For His Role in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM
It sounds like Jackie Chan gives quite the performance as Master Splinter in Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. He certainly made a big impression on Ice Cube, who believes that Chan deserves an Oscar for his performance in the movie!
During an interview with CB, Cube, who plays the villain Superfly in the movie, said: "I haven't met Jackie Chan yet. But I think he deserves an Oscar for this movie. He's like the heart and soul. I always want to hear him talk and hear his instructions to the Turtles and I really enjoyed his performance."
I’ve seen a good 25 minutes of the film so far and I’ve loved what I’ve seen so far! I’m very excited for this movie and I hope that people give it a chance. While at Comic-Con, after the studios screened a big chunk of the film, I was talking with some people around me and they said they weren’t really excited for the movie, but that extended clip that was shown sold them on the movie.
In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.
When previously talking about the tone of the film, director Jeff Rowe revealed the vibe they were going for: “We wanted it to be like Stand By Me and Lady Bird. But, you know, with Ninja Turtles.” He added: "They've got a lot of that inauthentic confidence that teenagers have: when you're a teen, you don't know any better, so you operate with this hyped-up sense of, 'We can do anything!'"
The voice cast of the film includes Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Brady Noon as Raphael, John Cena as Rocksteady, Seth Rogen as Bebop, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits theaters on August 4th.
