Idris Elba Auditioned To Play Gaston In BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
In a tale that's far from old as time, Idris Elba actually contacted Disney and wanted to play the role of Gaston in the live-action adaptation of Beauty And The Beast. Elba shares the news with People, and confirms there's an audition tape of him singing locked away somewhere in the Disney vault.
“I honestly love musicals… I auditioned for Beauty and the Beast. I really did, for Gaston. I called and said, ‘Listen, I want in!’ So somewhere they have a tape of me singing.”
That sounds like a performance I would've definitely paid to see! Then again Luke Evans really killed it in the role, so I can't say I'm upset Disney denied Elba the right to appear in the Disney film. Do you think Elba would've been a better fit for the role?
