Idris Elba Is Set to Star in and Produce New Thriller Series HIJACK for Apple TV+

Idris Elba is set to star in and executive produce a new thriller series for Apple TV+ titled Hijack. The series will consist of seven episodes, and Elba will be played an accomplished business negotiator named Sam Nelson, who finds himself on a hijacked plane.

Sam’s fast-talking skills are called upon when the plane he’s on is hijacked. The synopsis says, “[Sam] needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but, his high-risk strategy could be his undoing.”

The series comes from writer George Kay (Lupin, Criminal), and it will be directed by Jim Field Smith (Criminal, The Wrong Mans).

Elba always tends to take on fun projects and this one sounds like it’ll be an interesting one for him. He will next be seen in George Miller’s fantasy drama film Three Thousand Years of Longing alongside Tilda Swinton. He also recently wrapped production on two more films including Luther for Netflix and Beast, which is a film about a killer lion.
