Idris Elba Set to Star in Series Adaptation of THINGS FALL APART

Idris Elba is set to star in and produce a TV series adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s 1958 novel, Things Fall Apart, which is in development at A24.

Things Fall Apart is regarded as one of the greatest novels ever written. The official description of the series says it is the “story of Okonkwo (Elba), one of literature’s most iconic characters—a fearless African warrior and leader who is resolute about preserving his people and culture.

“As British colonizers disrupt his world, Okonkwo’s struggle to maintain power and tradition spirals into a heart-wrenching confrontation.

“His fierce resolve, a fatal flaw in the face of unstoppable change, makes him an unforgettable character, embodying the tension between strength, vulnerability and adaptability.”

There is no writer attached to the project yet, and it’s not currently set up at a network or streaming service. The series is also being produced by Gina Carter and David Oyelowo.

It seems like this series will shape up to be a high profile and epic project.
