Idris Elba Thinks There's Still a Chance That We'll See a DARK TOWER Sequel

I enjoyed the big screen adaptation of The Dark Tower more than most people. It wasn't the perfect adaptation that I was hoping for, but I was still entertaining enough to where I thought it was good.

Regardless of what I thought, the movie bombed at the box office and it was destroyed by most critics. I would like to see a sequel get made, but it's hard to think that it's going to happen. Maybe if the TV series that's in development succeeds, it will pave the way for a sequel, but who knows.

Dark Tower star Idris Elba is confident that a sequel will happen and in a recent interview with Radio Times, he says that he thinks that there are "definitely" talks to try and get a sequel made.

“I think any TV series that is an offshoot from the film can have more time to explore some themes. I’d personally prefer to do another Dark Tower film, exploring some more of the gunslinger – as a film…I don’t know much about where they are with the TV show – but I think there’s definitely talks to try and do another one.”

We really don't know what Warner Bros. is planning at this point, so it's hard to say that Elba is delusional. After the success of IT, maybe they will want to give it another try, but do something more in line with what the fans want, and not what the studio wants.

Stephen King previously talked about how he wanted the sequel to be rated R, saying:

“I would love to see Roland on the beach with those lobster monstrosities and I understand the rationale behind [this] movie, that it’s PG-13. I totally signed off on that. I think it’s the right thing to do. I want as many people as possible to attend for all kinds of reasons…but I would love to see the next picture be R. Because I think that’s sort of where we’re coming from now, where the movies need to go.”

If the studio actually does attempt to make a sequel to the Dark Tower, taking it in the R-rated dark direction is the way to go. That's what the fans want to see! If you give the fans what they want they will flock to the theaters to watch the movie just like they did with IT.

Stephen King is popular more than ever right now, so I don't think it's too far-fetched to think that a sequel to the Dark Tower might happen. Would you be open to watching a sequel to The Dark Tower if they actually retooled things to do it right and make a film for the fans?
