Idris Elba to Replace Will Smith as Deadshot in James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD

Well, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad just got a hell of a lot more interesting. According to Variety, Idris Elba is going to replace Will Smith in the role of Deadshot! That’s certainly a surprising and unexpected choice, but I’m totally on board with it, and I think Elba will make a badass Deadshot!

Will Smith had to bail on the project due to scheduling conflicts, and the studio was obviously keen on getting another A-lister to replace him. Mission accomplished!

There’s no information on what exactly Gunn is planning for the story, but it’s been said that his “focus is to take the franchise in a new direction with a mostly all-new cast of characters and actors.” Margot Robbie is also expected to reprise her role of Harley Quinn, but that has yet to be confirmed.

The Suicide Squad is set to be released date is currently set for Aug. 6, 2021.
