Idris Elba To Star In Netflix Comedy Series TURN UP CHARLIE

Idris Elba is coming back to Netflix and television for an original series that has placed the actor in a genre that he's not doing all that often these days, comedy. Elba will star in the upcoming comedy series Turn Up Charlie and play a struggling DJ and bachelor who reluctantly agrees to become a manny to his famous best friend's daughter.

Netflix has ordered eight episodes of the series, which each planned to run about a half-hour in length. Elba will executive produce the series in addition to his starring presence, and production on the series is set to begin in May. Personally, I'm excited to see Elba back doing television, but I'm not sure how audiences will respond to this series. I guess I'll just need to see Elba in action in a comedy project before I make any concrete predictions as to how folks will respond to this series.
