IDW is Giving Fans a NAPOLEON DYNAMITE Comic Mini-Series

I have never understood the charm of Napoleon Dynamite. It never made sense to me. It made sense to a lot of people though, and now, it’s time to return to Idaho for a follow-up comic mini-series from IDW Publishing. The mini-series will last for four issues and the story is a little interesting for fans:

Napoleon Dynamite is being written by Carlos Guzman-Verdugo and Alejandro Verdugo with Jorge Monlongo providing the artwork. Talking about creating the comics, Verdugo said:

Napoleon Dynamite is a pop-culture staple, a coming-of-age cult classic that spoke to the weirdo in all of us. It’s an honor to have the chance to expand on the lives of Napoleon, Deb, and Pedro — characters that continue to resonate to this day. I still see people wearing ‘Vote for Pedro’ t-shirts!

Guzman-Verdugo added:

With this new story, we’re focusing on matching the movie’s unique tone, finding that perfect blend of oddball comedy and charming slice-of-life drama. It’s certainly been a challenge but one we’re sure will pay off for long-time fans. And the best part: we get to rewatch a lot of Napoleon Dynamite!

Sara Richard is supplying the cover art for Napoleon Dynamite #1 with variants from Monlongo and a Photo Edition also being available when it launches in September.
