IDW's New TRANSFORMERS Comics Will Explore the Time Before the War

IDW is shaking things up in the world of Transformers. In 2019, IDW is going to take fans to a time before the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The series will simply be called Transformers and will be released twice a month. Brian Ruckley is the writer of the series and Angel Hernandez and Ron Joseph are the artists for the comics.

Transformers will explore how the war between the two factions started and how it traveled from Cybertron to Earth. This sounds amazing, and like a brilliant way to open up more spin-off storylines.

Hasbro’s VP of Global Publishing, Michael Kelly, released a statement, stating:

We are eager to begin this new chapter in Transformers storytelling. We are excited to begin a tale that will be accessible and appealing to readers unfamiliar with Transformers lore, while still providing the depth and drama that our longtime fans expect. It’s a big responsibility, but we’ve got the right team and the right characters to do it.

Meanwhile, Ruckley has said:

Just as important, it’s an amazing opportunity for new readers to discover and explore one of the biggest universes — and one of the best casts of characters — that science fiction has to offer, and to get in right at the start of a truly epic saga.

Transformers will launch in March with various covers available from artists including Hernandez, Joseph, Gabriel Rodriguez, Jeffrey Veregge, and Freddie E. Williams II.
